HANNOVER MESSE 2026 delivered a clear message to the global manufacturing industry:
Industrial innovation must create real value on the factory floor.
Held in Hannover, Germany, from April 20 to 24, the exhibition brought together approximately 3,000 companies from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, digital technology and the energy sector.
Industrial AI, robotics, automation and digitalization were at the center of the event, showing how quickly intelligent technologies are moving into real manufacturing environments.

Industrial AI is no longer limited to experimental projects.
New applications are helping manufacturers configure machines, analyze production data, detect abnormal conditions and improve robot operation. Some systems can now turn information into direct production actions.
These developments can reduce commissioning time, improve efficiency and help factories respond faster to changing orders.
But intelligence alone cannot move a workpiece.
Every command must eventually be translated into gripping, lifting, pushing, clamping or positioning. This is where robots, electric drives and pneumatic actuators turn digital intelligence into real industrial movement.
Manufacturers are facing more product variations, smaller production batches and shorter delivery times. Production equipment must therefore become easier to adjust and reconfigure.
This trend is creating new requirements for pneumatic cylinders.
Depending on the machine, a cylinder may need a special stroke, limited installation length, non-standard mounting, modified air ports, adjustable cushioning or integrated position sensing.
In these situations, the best solution is not always found in a standard catalogue.
A customized pneumatic cylinder can be designed around the equipment, helping machine builders solve installation, force and operating challenges without redesigning the entire machine.
AI and robotics may define the future of manufacturing, but reliable components determine whether production can continue today.
Cylinder leakage, unstable movement, excessive end-of-stroke impact or poor alignment can interrupt an otherwise advanced production line. The resulting cost may include maintenance work, damaged materials, delayed production and missed deliveries.
For this reason, cylinder design should begin with the real working conditions:
• Required force and load direction
• Bore size and stroke
• Operating pressure and speed
• Cycle frequency
• Mounting method and port position
• Dust, moisture, temperature or corrosion
• Cushioning and sensing requirements
For large-bore and long-stroke cylinders, manufacturing accuracy is especially important. Tube straightness, bore roundness, piston rod alignment, sealing and cushioning must work together to provide smooth and stable movement.
HANNOVER MESSE 2026 showed that factories are becoming more connected, flexible and intelligent.
However, every intelligent production decision must still result in controlled physical movement. That movement must be accurate, repeatable and reliable.
At FESCOLO, customized cylinder projects begin with the application itself. We evaluate the required dimensions, force, stroke, pressure, speed, installation and operating environment before confirming the cylinder design.
The future of automation will be driven by intelligence—but its performance will still depend on engineering.
Smart control creates possibilities. Reliable motion turns them into production.
