What is the ISO 15552 standard?

The ISO 15552 is an international standard in the metric series established for the basic product dimensions of ISO pneumatic cylinders and the mounting dimensions of ISO cylinder accessories. 

For most of ISO 15552 air cylinder, there is a magnetic ring on the piston of cylinder, which is used to be detected by reed switch to control the position of cylinder movement. There is a mounting groove on the cylinder tube of the ISO cylinders, which is very convenient to install reed sensor switches without additional mounting brackets.

What is the relationship between ISO 15552 and ISO 6431?

ISO 6431 was first published in 1983 as ISO 6431:1983. Then it was revised in 1992 as ISO 6431:1992. In 2004, ISO 6431:1992 was withdrawn and replaced by ISO 15552:2004. The latest version is ISO15552:2018. 

Now all manufacturers basically use ISO 15552 to replace the original ISO 6431 standard. But some factories and users are still using the ISO 6431 cylinder standard. Essentially, they are not much different. It's just that ISO 15552 is more complete in detail than ISO 6431.
